Losing Habit

Losing Habit

7 Mar 2019

Hi All,

With our ranks depleted by Hawkes bay commitments and the Uni boys going back the HNCC Reynard Premiers suffered another loss on the weekend as they took on Taradale in the 50 over match at Anderson Park. Batting first we were in early trouble at 23 – 4 and gradually recovered with Dan Priest (25) and Angus Henderson (33) providing some runs at the top before some useful contributions from JP (16), coach Brad Clark (23) and Sufi Islam (26) enabled us to reach a modest 140 off our allotted overs. This was always going to be a challenge to defend and so it proved as we threatened at one stage having them 105 – 5 but they steadied the ship and got home with 10 overs and 4 wickets to spare. Rythym Sharma, JP (2 – 11 off 10) and Angus Henderson all grabbed 2 wickets apiece but to no avail. Losing just like winning can become a habit lads so we need to finish the season well over the next two games and aim to reach the semis where anything from there is possible!!!

The HNCC Reynard Division 2 side had another solid victory against Cornwall. Batting first Tristan Mudaly (47) starred with the bat as we reached 146/7 off the 40 overs and Cornwall never really threatened as Sophie Pyott (4 – 20) continued her excellent season as they finished on 85, some 60 odd runs short of the total. Great to see everyone contributing in some capacity guys and we are on track for a finals appearance in a few week’s time!!

The HNCC Parker Earthmover 3rds had a very competitive battle against the NBHS 3rd XI and only just ended up on the losing side as captain Peter Young top scored with 29 as we set a target of 162 off the 30 overs. NBHS took it right to the penultimate over for the victory as one of their players scored a ton with only W Vermeulen on the wickets tally with 2 – 35. Keep enjoying the games guys I’m sure a couple of wins are just around the corner!
