HNCC Seniors vs Taradale

26 Nov 2018

The Village senior side made it 2 from 2 on Saturday with a comprehensive victory against visiting Taradale. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, and it wasn’t long until they were on the back foot. Ben Taylor (1–15) and Sammy Prescott (1-21) made early inroads, bowling with great control, taking care of both openings bats. Returning student Alex Ryder (0-11) got back into the swing of things with some tidy overs and Koman Rameka (1-10) bowled beautifully in his first game of the season. Young Josh Lawson (1-11) swung the ball around and created a few chances, but it was Tim Ferguson who stole the show with an impressive 3-3 with his ripping leg breaks, Taradale bundled out for 71 inside 27 overs.

Village openers Cotter (43) and new boy Jerome Webby (23) batted nicely in tandem, punishing some loose deliveries and brushing some cobwebs off in between the wickets. The Village reached their target in 11 overs with both openers still in the middle, securing the important bonus point. The side travel to Taradale next week to face stronger opposition and look to make it a hat trick of wins to start.
