The HNCC 2nd division side got back to winning ways with a convincing 6 wicket win at Cornwall Park on Saturday. Cornwall elected to bat and after losing an early quick wicket to Tristan Mudaly (2 for 13) seemed to recover by accelerating to 42 for1 off just 6 overs. The introduction of Sophie Pyott (2 for 25) and Guy Reeves (3 for 21) stemmed the flow of runs and with support with some fine catches taken by Regan McCabe (2), James Rainger and G Reeves the Cornwall Oaks side found themselves struggling at 97 for 8 at the 20 over drinks break. It took only 5.1 overs after drinks to wrap the innings up with the spin of Andy Reeves (2 for 14) taking the final 2 wickets leaving Havelock with a modest 125 runs needed for victory.
The HNCC struggled to get the innings to the solid start they wanted on a slow but true wicket and found themselves 25 for 3 after 8 overs. However, two controlled stands between Derek Morrison (28) and Zac Burlace (40 not out) and between Burlace and Rishabh Sharma (19 not out) saw the village side comfortably through to victory with over 10 overs to spare.
