Hi All,

The HNCC Reynard Premiers are on their way to the 50 over final on Saturday as they gritted out a brilliant away victory in the semifinal over CHB at Onga Onga on the weekend!! Batting first on a slow tough pitch our CD Stag Bradley Schmulian once again showed his class by batting almost the entire innings for a hard fought 72no as we managed to scrape together a score of 158 all out with the only other score of note a patient 30 from our NZ U-19 rep Joey Field. At 50 without loss CHB seemed more than on target before a rampant Will Clark produced one of the spells of the season in taking 5 – 21 off his 10 overs to rip the middle order apart after Pete Marrfy ( 2 – 30) had done the tough work at the top knocking over the openers as they fell 30 runs shy of the target!!. A magnificent effort lads as we did it the hard way travelling and we deserve to be in the final after a lot of effort from coach Brad Clark and all the squad over the whole season so well done!!

Unfortunately the HNCC Reynard Div. 2 side couldn’t match the achievement as they went down to NOBM in their semi on Saturday. Bowling first they did a good job of restricting them to 140/9 off the 40 overs with Guy Reeves (2 – 27), Sophie Pyott (2 - 33), Rogan Ross (2 – 27) and Andy Reeves (2 – 20) all amongst the wickets in a good all round bowling display. The target proved harder than it looked though and despite Guy Reeves 30 no we were left stranded 21 runs short of the total. A disappointing way to finish the season guys but a great effort to come this far in the first season of the division!

The only game this week is the FINAL OF THE 50 OVER COMPETITION between NTOB and the underdogs HNCC REYNARD PREMIERS at NELSON PARK from 11.00am. Let’s get as many members and supporters there on Saturday as its going to be a huge ask for the team coming up against the National champs and no one is expecting us to win so we have nothing to lose and if we give it our best who knows what can happen!!
