Brilliant Win

Brilliant Win

16 Jan 2019

A brilliant game of cricket on the weekend as the HNCC Reynard Premiers scored a miraculous win over CHB at Anderson Park. After another rain delay this season we were sent into bat and were in immediate trouble and at 38 for 7 it was looking like a short day for all. However young Max Devonshire (22) and veteran Jared Priest (36) provided a much needed partnership of 52 to help us recover to a still below par total of 101 all out leaving CHB 60 odd overs to reach the target. They started reasonably well and at the tea break had reached 70 for 3 and were heading for an easy victory but as we all know cricket is a funny game and with JP (3 – 15) holding up a bowling end Pete Marffy (4 – 11) was able to attack and they both produced some excellent pressure bowling together with some good fielding we knocked them over for 90! An awesome gutsy effort guys and great to see young Sam Ferguson make his debut along with other year 13 lads Bailey McDonald and Max Devonshire in the side it shows the future of the club is looking extremely bright.

More of our teams back in action this weekend:

This weeks games: :

HNCC Reynard Premiers vs Taradale at Anderson Park on Saturday in a 55 over game starting at 10.30am.

HNCC Reynard Seniors vs Lindisfarne at Lindisfarne from 12.45pm on Saturday

HNCC Reynard Division 2 vs Marewa at Park Island in a 40 over game starting at 1 pm on Saturday

HNCC Cape Physio Women’s vs NOBM at Anderson Park from 5.30pm on Friday night.

There is a 21st on at the clubrooms on Saturday so the bar will not be open. Great to see three of our young Juniors selected for the CD U17 side for the national tournament with Will Clark, Sam Ferguson and Harry Mowat all making the team so congratulations to those boys and all the best for the week at Christchurch. In some cricket camp news two teams have been involved last week, our HNCC Scott Clinic Year 11 -13 and the HNCC Scott Clinic Year 8 side. The Year 11 – 13 team won all their longer format games but came up just short in the 2 T20 games on the last day with some excellent performances across the games by Sam Ferguson (77no), Josh Lawson (53) and Joey Field (46) and (3 – 21).  The Year 8 side won 3 of their 5 games and they also had some standout performers in certain games across the week with Koji Hardgrave Abe (52), Flynn Ellingham (44), Jimmy Peacock (3 – 13), J Sunckell (3 – 9) and Jack Brittin (34no), so well done to all. Unfortunately we have had a few teams caught in the weather this week so hopefully they get some cricket in.
