Another very efficient victory by the HNCC Reynard Premiers last Friday night over Taradale means we stay at the top of the table. Batting first in the T20 clash, CD Stag Brad Schmulian opened up back from his finger injury but strangely failed to fire with the bat so it was great to see captain Jono Whitely (38) and Harry Young (42 off 27) putting on an excellent partnership of 71 to restart the innings before Adam Winter (24 off 18) finished off the job to lead us to an always competitive total of 150 off the 20 overs. Taradale never really threatened to knock the target over as they lost regular wickets and were left 15 odd runs short as Joey Field (2 – 20), Robert Fridd (2 – 25) and Brad (3 – 24) grabbed the wickets as all the bowlers contributed well. The best start to the season since I’ve been involved lads so lets keep the momentum going if we can.
The HNCC Reynard Seniors had a reality check as they crashed to a heavy defeat at the hands of Taradale to suffer their first loss. Batting first in the 45 over clash a number of guys got starts into the 20’s but no one kicked on as we were bowled out for only 152 with a few overs to go. Taradale gave us no sniff as they reached the target only 1 down as virtually the whole team had a bowl but to no avail. Lets put it down to an off day at the office lads and expecting better this weekend.
The HNCC Reynard Division 2 side also experienced a loss although it was a much closer battle. Batting first the side was in all sorts of trouble at 77 – 7 before R Ross (38no) and veteran Andy Reeves (25no) put together the best partnership of the innings by a long way of 52 as they carried the team through to 129/7 off the 40 overs. Taradale were creaking at 71 – 4 after Sophie Pyott (2 – 27) and R Ross (2 – 27) made breakthroughs but it wasn’t to be and they won with a couple of overs to spare. Back to scoring runs guys as that’s what wins games.

Three big events for the club this weekend as firstly on Friday night the Scott Clinic Juniors have a free coaching session from 5.30 – 7.00pm with a number of a young Premier players helping out before a Strawberries and Cream ending to the night to finish the season off which should be very enjoyable for all.
Saturday sees the annual OLD BOYS FUNCTION at the club starting from 11.30am with lunch provided. We have worked hard to get a connection to the past over the last couple of seasons so be great to see as many past players of yesteryear come along and reminisce about the old days while watching the present Premier players strut their stuff so hope to see you all there.
Then Saturday night sees the clubs first real social function of the year with the CLUB XMAS PARTY starting at 7.00pm at the club with some Awesome fun to be had with some spot prizes, karaoke, food and beverages so shaping up as an excellent night organised by the Social committee and all welcome.
