All Over

All Over

3 Apr 2019

Hi All,

It was not to be for the HNCC Reynard Premiers on Saturday as they lost convincingly to a champion NTOB outfit in the 50 over final as the season came to an end. Winning the toss and batting first on a pristine Nelson Park pitch seemed to be the best idea to enable us to put them under a bit of pressure but as they have done all season their bowlers proved a class above as we succumbed for 122 with only Pete Marrfy (43) and Will Clark (26) showing any kind of resistance. They then proceeded to make short work of the chase with Brad Schmulian (2 – 35) stemming the tide momentarily but they cruised to victory 3 wickets down with a number of overs to spare.

A tough way to finish guys but it has been an amazing season for us coming so close to winning the overall championship for the first time for 20 odd years and winning the 55 over championship along with reaching both the T20 and 50 over finals only to come up against a phenomenal team that is equal to any club outfit in the country. The club is extremely proud of your efforts and a special thanks to coach Brad Clark who has put an incredible amount of time and effort into the season which we as a committee really appreciate. We have a great young group of players with more of our local juniors coming through so the future looks bright although it continues to be extremely tough at both ends of the season when our Uni students are not available and we struggle to keep older players in the game and we must find a way to overcome that if we are going to reach the level Tech have set.

Once again we must thank our loyal sponsors who continue to provide us with great support and many thanks to the committee who work hard to provide a platform for our 5 teams to operate from.
